The MOLE XXXIV Conference Committee wishes to invite prospective participants and presenters to submit abstracts for their papers and posters and undertake their registration for side events and exhibitions. This year’s conference will have five main sub-themes, and three key pathways have been defined under each of them, to set the framework for discussing the sub-themes (see Table below). Prospective presenters are encouraged to reflect on the MOLE XXXIV Conference theme and sub-themes and submit contributions that align and address the “key pathways” outlined in the detailed sub-theme descriptions. Conference Session Formats 

The MOLE XXXIV Conference specifically offers opportunities to Prospective Presenters in the following formats.

• Papers: A variety of selected papers which address the various sub-themes will be presented and discussed at 2-3 parallel sessions. Papers may introduce new knowledge developed with clear rigorous methodologies and analysis.
• Posters: Poster presentations will focus on emerging research within the sector or as a front for quick dissemination/ display of relevant knowledge materials during the conference.
• Side Events: Side events will be in the form of collaborative learning and experience sharing, with 2-3 sessions occurring simultaneously. Side events offer organizations or projects the platform to share results, new approaches, and emerging issues in the sector.
• Exhibitions: Organizations, resource centres, service providers and manufacturers will have the opportunity to exhibit their products and engage participants during the conference.

Guidelines for Submitting Abstracts

• Abstracts must be received by the deadline of September 22, 2023
• Abstracts must be submitted via the online form https://forms.gle/LAQEY2WtWiqXH1Zx7
• Title of abstracts is limited to 15 words and main Abstracts are limited to 500 words.
• Submissions must include key learning objectives for your presentation. Please include key learning objectives in the ‘Abstract Submission
• Submissions must include the sub-theme the abstract is contributing to, and please select the appropriate “key pathway” the abstract falls under.
• Incomplete abstracts cannot be reviewed, and only original work must be submitted

Your abstract should briefly explain the importance and novelty of the research or project, be accurate and succinct, and readable. Keep it short and to the point (500 words):

• What (i.e. the focus): Clearly explain your idea or question your work addresses.
• Why (i.e., the purpose): Explain why your focus is important.
• How (i.e., methods): Describe how you collected data to answer your question.
• Results: Share your results–the information you collected. What does the data say?
• Conclusion: State your conclusion(s) by relating your data to your original question. Discuss the connections between your results and the problem. If your project is still ‘in progress’ and you don’t yet have solid conclusions, use this space to discuss what you know at the moment (i.e., lessons learned so far, emerging trends, etc.).

• Deadline for submission of abstracts for all session types/ formats:  September 22, 2023
• Abstract Acceptance notification: October 5, 2023
• Final Papers due for Submission: October 15, 2023
